MEMBERS of the SJD Foundation Ballarat have expressed their gratitude towards a local mechanics who have been regular donors to the organisation.

Led by Phillip Kolarik, the team at Spanners and Sparks are donating two dollars from every vehicle they receive to the charity.

SJD Foundation works to support children in need in the Ballarat region and Mr Kolarik said it was important for his business to support the community.

“For a number of years, we were donating to the B1G1 initiative which is a global organisation that covers charities worldwide,” he said.

“That was great but post pandemic we’ve seen ourselves firsthand some local families and the local community doing it tough.

“We thought bringing it back home in our local community would be a lot more meaningful.”

The SJD foundation provides goods and services to children or families doing it tough.

“It really gives us a bit of meaning behind what we do as it’s going towards something tangible,” said Mr Kolarik.

“Something is better than nothing and if it helps out one family than they are better off than nobody getting any help at all.

“We hope to grow the business ourselves and as we grow keep donating.”
