THE Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will present a Regional Business Recovery Roadshow next month, stopping at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre on 12 August from 10.30am to 12pm.

The event is aimed at helping businesses through their COVID-19 recovery with advice for farmers, suppliers and producers on how to land contracts with large vendors and information on the considerations that need to be made in the process.

Group general manager of procurement and supply at Crown Resorts, Ben Briggs, and senior health, safety and wellbeing consultant at the VCCI, Con Barbakas, will tour with the roadshow, sharing their knowledge in their respective fields.

Crown chefs will also join the event to scope out potential new suppliers.

Chief executive of the VCCI Paul Guerra said local businesses could learn how to grow their dealings at the event.

“Victoria is home to some of the world’s best produce and this roadshow provides an opportunity for our home-grown businesses to showcase their wares and also learn more about how they can upscale their operations by tapping into a huge consumer and customer base like Crown,” he said.

Mr Briggs said buying local was increasingly important to consumers across the state and hoped the roadshow would bring new regional opportunities.

“We’ve seen a big and well documented swing with Victorians wanting to support Victorian produce and suppliers,” he said.

“With the ongoing impact of COVID-19, we hope that initiatives like this from VCCI bring new opportunities to regional Victoria and help our state to rebuild.”
