BWEZ expansion continues
WORKS at Ballarat West Employment Zone, or BWEZ, by the State Government are continuing with an extension to Liberator Drive.
Minister for Regional Development, Gayle Tierney, announced last week that Winslow Constructors has been awarded the contract for the next stage of development.
Once the extension is completed, Liberator Drive will become the main access point between BWEZ and the Ballarat Airport.
“It’s full speed ahead at BWEZ, with the latest development and land sales further enhancing economic opportunities for Ballarat and Central Highlands businesses and workers through this transformative project,” said Ms Tierney.
The extension is expected to be complete by the end of 2024.
The development of stage two of BWEZ is also continuing with manufacturer and supplier John Valves acquiring two hectares of land.
It is estimated the company will create 45 jobs in BWEZ and be operational by 2027.
“This is another exciting step forward for BWEZ, which is key to ensuring a strong and prosperous economic future for Ballarat and the broader region – creating jobs and opportunities, while helping to support the significant population growth predicted for our city in the coming decades,” said City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson.
