ENTRIES are open to highlight the achievements of people in the region by nominating them for the 2024 City of Ballarat Community Awards.

Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the awards are about shining a light on the City’s unsung heroes.

“There are many great people in our community doing great things who deserve their day in the sun,” he said.

“They often don’t seek or want attention but it’s important that our community recognises their contributions because they make Ballarat such a special place to live, work and invest.

“I encourage you to nominate your friend, neighbour or colleague that is an unsung hero as part of the City of Ballarat Community Awards.”

The awards’ three categories are the Young Citizen of the Year, which aims to highlight the achievements of someone under 25 years old, the Community Event of the Year, spotlighting a successful happening, and the Citizen of the Year Award.

Nominations will be open until Monday 20 November and can be submitted at the municipality’s website.

The award recipients will be announced during a presentation event in January.
