A NEW social media campaign from Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions, or BREAZE, is sharing the stories of Ballarat residents who have made the switch from gas to electric.

The weekly campaign includes a short video featuring everyday locals who are making the switch with information about what worked, what was challenging and what they would do differently.

The first episode of Real People, Real Stories featured Bev and Robert Elshaug, who made a few upgrades to their home.

“I thought electrification was only for new homes or people with heaps of money,” Mr Elshaug said.

Electrifying a home involves replacing gas appliances with electric ones and powering them with solar where possible.

It is designed to help people save money in the long term, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve air quality and comfort.

BREAZE president Peta Guy said the social media campaign is about showing the community where to start.

“The energy transition can feel overwhelming; there’s so much information, so many products, and conflicting advice,” she said.

“This campaign cuts through all that. It shows that you don’t need to be rich, green, or an expert.”

Real People, Real Stories videos will be released every Monday via BREAZE‘s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and website.
