Car show to hit the roads
AN annual event celebrating all things automotive and classic hot rods is set to roll into town at the end of the month.
Organised by members of the Ballarat Road Rodders, the group’s annual Ballarat Rod Run will see more than 100 vehicles on show during the last weekend of November.
Ballarat Road Rodders president Bayden Roberts said the event is about coming together to bond over a common interest.
“It’s a group of guys getting together and enjoying each other’s cars and company,” he said.
“We feature a lot more of Ballarat now with our observation run on the Saturday and tying it into SpringFest. We had over 310 cars that first time we linked up with them.”
The event will see participants registering their vehicles at the Big 4 Windmill Holiday Park in Cardigan on the Friday, followed by an observation run on Saturday during which people will travel around Ballarat landmarks to compete in a questionnaire.
Following the local sightseeing, a show and glow display will take place the following day from 10am as part of SpringFest, which the Ballarat Rod Run has been a fixture of since before COVID.
With more than 120 vehicles already signed up for the showcase, Mr Roberts said it will be a varied display.
“For us in the club, we stick to pre-1965 but for the show and glow, it’s open to anything with wheels,” he said. “It’s good to have that broad selection.”
Mr Roberts said a highlight for him is admiring the vehicles that come in.
“Seeing hundreds of cars in the one spot is the highlight for me,” he said. “I enjoy making new friends and catching up with old ones at this event.
“When it comes to the car scene, I know there’s certain people who’ll actually build their cars to showcase at these events. There’ll no doubt be someone with something new on the road to show us.”
The Ballarat Rod Run will take place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 November and to pre-enter visit the Ballarat Road Rodders website.
