A LARGE, live and festive evening of Carols by Candlelight will be held at Mars Stadium on Sunday, 19 December, presented by Harcourts Ballarat.

But before performers take to the stage, president Matt Hustwaite said the organising committee needs some assistance from the community to ensure the night of free entertainment happens safely and smoothly, and is lots of fun.

“In 2019 we had a wonderful team of volunteers to help our patrons have an enjoyable time, so this year we’re putting the call out again for people to join ‘The Carols Crew,’ to be a part of making Ballarat Carols by Candlelight a great event for everyone,” he said.

“They’ll be carpark marshalling, helping visitors find their way around the venue, ensuring COVID requirements are being met, that the venue’s clean and safe, taking photos, bag-checking, ticket scanning, and rattling tins or shaking buckets to generate funds for the 3BA Christmas Appeal.

“These people are our faces on the ground, mixing with the community and making sure families are having a fantastic time, so if anyone thinks they’ve got useful skills, we encourage them to get in touch.”

Staging the concert at Mars Stadium, the committee has all the facilities they need, including convenient entries and exits for ticket scanning.

Hip Pocket Workwear and Safety have donated hi-vis vests with The Carols Crew printed on them.

“It’s a really fun event. Being a volunteer, you get to be in the thick of it, so it’s a great way to enjoy the night,” Mr Hustwaite said.
