Castle transforms into wild west

A TASTE of the wild west is coming to Kryal Castle with the return of the Ballarat Rodeo.

For the second time, Kryal Castle will be the backdrop to bull riding, barrel racing, and rodeo stunts.

“Last year we ran the rodeo for the first time, and we were quite pleasantly surprised by the massive reaction that was had to it,” said Kryal Castle experiences director Phillip Leitch.

“It had been several years since Ballarat hosted a rodeo because of COVID and having it come back and at such a unique venue such as Kryal Castle gained a lot of interest.”

Cowboys and cowgirls will ride, rope, and wrestle bucking broncos and bulls followed by an evening of live entertainment.

Mr Leitch said an event highlight will be witnessing the high-level athleticism of performers.

“I think any sort of live entertainment when you see people performing at such a high level of skill is of interest to people,” he said.

“They’re all excellent athletes and actually seeing what they do if you haven’t seen it before is quite amazing.”

The Ballarat Rodeo will be on Saturday 26 October and Sunday 27 October. Tickets can be purchased on the Kryal Castle website.
