TIM Chandler, the managing director of award winning group accommodation destination Cave Hill Creek, has joined the Tourism Midwest Victoria board as an industry partner member.

Chandler brings more than 20 years of practical knowledge from several sectors to the table.

Mr Chandler replaces Bart Hamilton (who recently resigned to join Zoos Victoria) and said he is looking forward to using his extensive experience to provide sound governance and strategic direction.

“I am excited and honoured to join the board and look forward to helping shape and drive the region’s tourism credentials,” he said.

Tourism Midwest chair John Pandazopoulos said Mr Chandler brings with him a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the success of the board and organisation.

“We look forward to working with (him) and unlocking his expertise to deliver on the Sustainable Destination Management Plan and to nurture the region’s growing reputation as a diverse, inclusive and progressive destination.”

Along with Mr Pandazopoulos, he joins four other industry partner directors – Sovereign Park Motor Inn owner Tim Canny, RACV Goldfields Resort manager Bowen Kress, Sovereign Hill deputy CEO/chief museums officer Katrina Nitschke, and Melanie Robertson, plus the CEOs from the City of Ballarat and the Pyrenees, Moorabool, Golden Plains and Hepburn shires.

The board’s main task is overseeing the mooted nine-year Sustainable Destination Management Plan, which is billed as “a roadmap to enhance visitor experiences.”

The Plan has been endorsed by the board and is due to be launched in late July.
