Chinese artists experience cultural exchange
A SMALL group of women artists from China have experienced a two-week international cultural exchange based in Ballarat.
The exchange is a first of its kind, challenging artists to personally present their own work and express their thoughts about contemporary art in a translated seminar and workshop.
The artists represent the China Contemporary Women’s Arts Association and were invited to town by the Chinese Australian Cultural Society of Ballarat, with the aim to blend cultures, provide support, generate learning and development, and provide a fresh context to view the world.
The seminar was open to the public as part of Harmony Fest and held at the Art Gallery of Ballarat last Sunday afternoon.
The artists mixed with groups from Sovereign Hill, Mt Clear College, the gallery and the Chinese Cultural Society in the morning.
A few of the group’s highlights in Victoria included getting involved in the Begonia Parade, heading to Sovereign Hill, getting a tour of the Civic Hall, travelling to Daylesford and the Great Ocean Road.
