ST Peter’s Anglican Church will be blooming this weekend as its mission group hosts its first garden festival.

From 10am to 2pm this Saturday 23 September, community members are welcome to visit St Peter’s to purchase a plant for a good cause, to wander the gardens, and have a peek inside the iconic bluestone building.

“Our festival will have stalls selling all things garden, including plants, flowers, succulents, produce, jams, chutneys, and decorative pots,” co-organiser Jill Godfrey said.

“You name it, we’ve tried to have a little bit of everything. Music will be provided by a brass quartet and hand-held bell ringers.

“Proceeds will be supporting Anglicare Ballarat which provides food and assistance for those in need.

“There are so many people struggling and needing help, so the demand’s much greater and they run out of supplies, so our mission group has decided it’s important to raise money for Anglicare this year.”

Free tea and coffee, and biscuits, will be available in the rectory garden, and if weather is poor, the festival will still go on, held in the church hall at the rear of the site.

“The gardens at St Peter’s are really pleasant, and a fair bit of work has been happening in them,” Mrs Godfrey said.

“The op shop will also be open, people can see inside the church, and have a look at the really lovely stained-glass windows in there.”

St Peter’s Anglican Church is at 1309 Sturt Street, and this site has been owned by the parish since 1864.
