Entries flow into water poster comp

CENTRAL Highlands Water’s annual poster competition is now accepting creative entries ahead of the utility’s National Water Week celebrations.

Primary school-aged children are encouraged to enter and respond to a new theme for 2021.

“This year, we’re asking students to celebrate and reflect on the vital and cultural role that water plays in our lives,” a CHW spokesperson said.

“We invite primary school students to create a poster reflecting on what ‘caring for water and country’ means to them.”

There are five age-group categories: prep, grade 1/2, grade 3/4, grade 5/6, and all-abilities students.

The top entries within each section will be awarded prizes, with $100 gift card for first and $50 for second.

This year’s National Water Week’s theme is ‘caring for water and country,’ and is aimed at acknowledging the significance to First Nations Peoples over the last 65,000 years, and into the future.

The week will run from Wednesday, 18 to Tuesday, 24 October.

The annual event is an opportunity for kids, and the broader community, to gain a stronger grasp of the way water works, and the important role it plays in our society and the wider environment.

CHW is now accepting poster competition entries until 5pm on Friday, 10 September.
