LAST week the City of Ballarat celebrated the tenth birthday of its floral reindeer, and the final elements of the municipalities Christmas decorations going into place.

The event held in the Sturt Street gardens was attended by mayor Cr Ben Taylor. He was joined by Santa and musicians from Mount Clear College as they kicked off the city’s Christmas celebrations.

Cr Taylor said that he wants to promote what’s happening in the CBD, especially around the Christmas decorations.

“Today’s just a bit of fun, we’ve got the band here, we’ve got Santa here, we’ve got people coming along eating some cake, it’s just really starting off that beginning of Christmas,” he said.

Alongside the return of the Floral Reindeer, other decorations include the gingerbread house in Albert street, the Bridge Mall giant Christmas bauble and a phone booth where kids can call Santa and leave a message.
