City to showcase top tourism offerings
REPRESENTATIVES for the state’s tourism industry are set to bring their business to the region in September with the City of Ballarat to host a key event for the sector.
The municipality will host this year’s Victorian Tourism Industry Council Visitor Servicing Summit, which will foster engagement, networking, and idea-sharing between up to 150 industry professionals.
The delegates are expected to stay in town for up to three nights for the event which will include informative sessions, official welcomes, on-site experiences, and a gala dinner.
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson said to have the VTIC summit hosted in the region will showcase Ballarat as an ideal tourism destination.
“We are thrilled to be able to host such a magnificent event and look forward to welcoming people from throughout Victoria to our great city,” he said.
“The Visitor Servicing Summit will showcase the best of Ballarat and surrounds to the state’s tourism professionals. They will get to see our beautiful landscapes, enjoy our fabulous hospitality scene, and meet our producers, experience our art and culture and so much more.”
The conference program will be aimed at showcasing Ballarat’s visitor experience offerings including spotlighting the city’s venues, producers, and suppliers.
The summit is expected to bring in more than $200,000 into the region’s economy.
VTIC chair Felicia Mariani said the organisation is looking forward to seeing Ballarat’s tourism capabilities.
“The summit brings together Victoria’s visitor servicing champions, who will share their experiences of Ballarat far and wide across the state with their communities and visitors alike,” she said.
“The summit focuses on the significant role visitor servicing plays in driving economic growth and yield for the local area and the whole state through learning and exchange, best practice case studies and exploring the future of visitor servicing.”
