City waste app on the web
A NEW app aimed at assisting residents in making full use of the City of Ballarat’s waste and recycling services has just launched.
Ballarat Waste was made available last week and is accessible for free via smartphone app stores.
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson said the online program is a one-stop spot for everything waste and recycling in the region.
“The City of Ballarat’s new waste app provides all the information you need about waste and recycling in the palm of your hand,” he said.
“The app will be updated with relevant information as waste and recycling services continue to evolve.
“It will be a reliable resource for residents with the introduction of the new weekly Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) kerbside collection in 2025, helping residents learn what they can and cannot place in their FOGO service.”
The Ballarat Waste app can allow people to schedule their kerbside collections and set reminders for themselves for when bin night arrives.
Users can also receive notifications to any changes to regular bin collections, and the app can also be used as a guide on what can and can’t be placed in respective bins.
Information on Ballarat Transfer Station including the facility’s operating hours, costs, and a list of what can be taken to the site for free, is also available.
Missing or damaged bins can also be reported through the app, while printable PDFs of the annual collection calendar can also be downloaded.
With FOGO collection set to be introduced in the region next year, household waste collections will change from weekly to fortnightly, while scheduled recycling collection will remain the same.
