Comedy and dogs combine for laughs
THE world’s only show which mixes dog training and comedy will be on in Ballarat this October.
Mad Dogs and an Englishman, performed by world renowned dog listener Tony Knight, combines laughing and learning how to listen to pets.
“It’s an hour of having a laugh and getting in the mind of our four-legged-friends in terms of what they think about us and what they think,” he said.
“People go home realising that their dogs have been trying to communicate all this time and they just didn’t know what they were trying to say.”
Knight said the show will have something for everyone, whether or not attendees have a dog.
“I play games with people so they understand how dogs think and basically learning is a fun experience,” he said.
“The last show I did was in London and a guy came up to me at the end and went ‘that was brilliant, I don’t have a dog and I was brought along, and I really enjoyed the show.’”
The idea for combing dog training and comedy came from Knight’s desire to engage the audience.
“Whenever I’ve been invited to do talks, I’ve tried to make them entertaining as when we enjoy the process we learn better,” he said.
“We all know the difference between bad teachers and good teachers, and it probably effected how you enjoyed the subject.
“A good teacher can change your life.”
Knight said he hopes people can learn to understand dogs for who they are.
“I would love that when people leave the start to look at their dogs in a completely different way and respect them for who they are because dogs are dogs,” he said.
“When we forget that dogs are dogs and ignore their nature they can turn around and bite us.”
The show will be on Sunday 22 October from 2pm at the Grand Bar Restaurant Functions and to book tickets visit bit.ly/3ssKZNX.
