Company to bring third round of wrestling
BALLARAT Neighbourhood Centre is set to be rocked next weekend with about twenty wrestlers to battle it out in the ring.
MXW Pro Wrestling will return to the region on Saturday 20 January with the Goodness Gracious show, the company’s first show for 2024 and their first in Ballarat since Scrap to the Future in May.
Owner and promoter Ashley Loft said the all-ages event will be an evening of entertainment and variety.
“It’ll be eight professional matches ranging from one-on-one, tag teams, extreme rules, and championship matches,” he said.
“There’s tons of new faces and people that have wrestled before in the region.
“Will Walker and Ace Shack are the main event. They fought during the last Ballarat show and this is the big payoff match we’ve been building over 12 months of shows.
“This is following our previous event in November in Geelong titled All 4 One which is giving people the chance to fight for the championships.”
Established last year, MXW Pro Wrestling held two local shows last year beginning with the Golden Opportunity event in March which saw 200 attendees.
Mr Loft said the sport has been well-received in the region.
“We’ve had a lot of people from Ballarat travel with us so they’ve come to Geelong and shows in Warrnambool, even Mildura, to support us everywhere we’ve gone,” he said.
“It’ll be good for us to put something else on for them in their hometown so they don’t have to travel far.
“We haven’t got anything else locked in for Ballarat for this year yet but we hope if there’s enough demand after this that it gives us more opportunities to come back.”
The Goodness Gracious event will begin at 7.30pm with doors opening at 6.30pm.
Tickets range from $10 for attendees under 12 to $30 for front row, and can be booked at bit.ly/48Gc4x8.
