MUSICIANS based in Hepburn Shire are set to perform together to raise funds to help upgrade Creswick’s town hospital.

With cash going towards Central Highlands Rural Health’s Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal, the show is titled Musical Threads: Performers for Patients.

The concert’s eight performers were assembled by CresFest director Judy Turner, who herself will play the viola.

Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal committee member Tim Drylie will lend his tenor vocals to the show and said it will be an eclectic program of shifting players and styles.

“We’ve got Susan Pierotti on violin who’ll be playing solo and ensemble, playing Bach and a sonata with Andrew Welsh on harpsichord who’s Daylesford-based,” he said.

“We’ve also got Judy playing with guitarist Neal Adam on some Scottish inspired songs. There’s also solo cello from recent Creswick resident Conrad Hamill doing some atmospheric loops.

“We’ve also got some jazz numbers from a father-son duo, Arlo and Adrian Deakin. I’ll be doing a few pieces with Andrew of Shubert and Mozart’s arias.

“It’ll appeal to a broad range of people.”

Between 12 to 15 pieces will feature in the show.

Since launching in late March, the Creswick Health Upgrade Appeal committee has raised about $110,000 out of their $150,000 goal aimed at upgrading the Creswick Hospital and Residential Aged Care facility.

Drylie said the concert’s cause is an important one for the community.

“The hospital’s a really important partner in Creswick both in terms of health provision and local jobs,” he said.

“It has a long history in terms of its place with the Creswick community and obviously the costs around building projects have seen a massive increase and it’s the same in this instance.”

Musical Threads: Performers for Patients will take place on Sunday 15 October from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the Creswick Woollen Mills.

Tickets range from free children under 12, to $35 adult and can be booked via bit.ly/3tkHLfT.
