AN upcoming workshop is set to run next week aimed at giving budding creatives a taste of both a glass of red as well as an often-used painting method.

Next Thursday, visual artist Nikkole Weightman will host a three-hour watercolour and wine class run out of Ellington’s Wine Bar on Sturt Street.

She said it’ll be a fun and insightful evening for people looking to explore the medium.

“The aim of the workshop is to just have a really fun night, something different and all artwork will actually be framed on the night, so everyone will go home with a finished artwork to hang,” she said.

“It will entail a night of watercolour, food, and wine. People should look forward to a really fun, inviting workshop, and a night filled with yummy food and wine and a stunning view.”

Weightman said the workshop will be capped at roughly 20 attendees.

Since leaving her previous profession as an emergency nurse last year, she held her first solo exhibition back in May, and is currently studying her Cert III in Visual Arts at Oxygen College.

Weightman’s foray into workshop teachings is a recent one, with her initial sessions taking place early last month.

She said Ellington’s is an ideal place to impart her experience.

“I’ve visited Ellington’s quite a lot and thought how could we use this space for a workshop? Ellington’s has been amazing, supportive, and adaptive for this workshop,” she said.

“There will be two artworks for participants to choose from: a sunset or florals. Both will be painted on the night by me, as the leading artist.

“I’m super excited to see how this one goes. It’s an expansion of my watercolour knowledge and love that was seen in my Unicorn Lane Exhibition.”

The workshop will run from 6pm to 9pm with tickets ranging from $75 to $100 based on meal options and available at the Nikkole Weightman Designs webpage.
