THE Art Gallery of Ballarat is holding several kid-oriented events this winter break with holiday program activities tying into the current Becoming Modern exhibition.

The workshops involve visits to the exhibition to see artwork by Australian women artists from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Kids will then have a chance to try out some of the ideas they have seen in the show.

Art Bites is a full-day class for children aged five to seven years old. It will be on offer twice during the holidays, once Monday, 1 July, where kids can create sculptures, while on Monday, 8 July, they’ll get to experiment with landscape painting and collage.

Art Camp is a three-day workshop for students aged eight to 14 years in which they experiment with a variety of materials and techniques to create finished artworks ready for display. They will work together to create a pop-up exhibition and display their work for family and friends.

Tickets for all programs are available from the Gallery on 5320 5858 or visit artgalleryofballarat.com.au.
