THE clubroom of a lifestyle estate in Ballarat’s west is being transformed into an exhibition space from tomorrow until the end of the weekend.

Nearly 50 creatives will go on display at the Lucas Lifestyle Estate, with the opening event taking place tomorrow evening.

Since promoting the event to outside artists back in July, Lucas Lifestyle Estate’s residents’ committee chair Graham May said the number of participants has exceeded his expectations.

“We probably have half a dozen artists within the village and the rest are from the Ballarat area and as far as Clunes, down in Geelong, Skipton, and Beaufort,” he said.

“We were looking to get around 60 pieces of art and we now have in excess of 100 to go on display. There a mixture of mediums and a number of photographs.

“The interest has been enormous, and with the recent renovations to the clubroom the area we’ve got is an amazing space to display art.”

The exhibition was initially born out of the committee’s desire to showcase the creatives living at the lifestyle estate.

Belinda Magnano is one of the roughly 40 exhibiting visual artists not attached to the group and she said she’s excited to bring her art to into a new space.

“Exhibiting is fairly new for me,” she said. “But this is local, and I want to do it as much as I can and display my art wherever I can.

“I’ve only been painting for about four years and doing online art courses since I had to stop working due to a neurological condition.

“I’d always been creative since I was a child but I’ve found painting to be a real passion.”

Magnano is displaying three mixed media abstract works called Cloudy, Misty, and Dusky in the event.

Following its opening tomorrow night from 6pm to 8pm, the Lucas Lifestyle Estate Art Show will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Though the exhibition is free, attendees are encouraged to donate a gold coin.
