CresFest needs you!
NEIL Adam, CresFest 2023 volunteer coordinator, is putting a call out for additional helper for CresFest 2023.
“Last year we attracted over 100 volunteers,” she said.
“As this year’s CresFest fast approaches, with an amazing line up of international, national and local musicians we are anticipating well over 3000 visitors to Creswick over the three-day festival from Friday, 31 March through to Sunday, 2 April.
“Volunteering provides a great opportunity for young people wanting to upskill on their chosen profession, for music lovers, or for people wanting to give back to their local and wider community.
“Returning volunteers will be there to mentor new volunteers, working alongside them to show them the ropes!”
In exchange for giving eight hours over the three-day festival, volunteers will receive training, t-shirt, lanyard and on-going support.
Perhaps the best motivation to become a volunteer is that all helpers receive a free weekend ticket. This means that while not rostered on, volunteers can go to any venue to listen to the musicians.
There are a number of roles that the volunteers undertake including customer service, checking armbands, stage management, MCing, ticket selling and importantly, welcoming artists into their homes – also known as billeting.
There are also specialist roles including photography, event management and sound engineering, that might well suit university students or people with those skills.
There are over 300 musicians performing at CresFest 2023. Some have asked for a homestay. If you host a performer, you receive weekend tickets commensurate with the number of beds you are providing.
To become a volunteer or host a musician, you really just need to be friendly, adaptable, have an outgoing personality and want to help.
