SOCIAL bike riding group, the Ballarat Scenic Cyclists, have raised hundreds of dollars for agency WRISC Family Violence Support through their events and activities in 2024 and 2025.

On behalf of the cyclists, member Gary Gunn handed over a cheque for $566.15 to WRISC CEO Libby Jewson on Monday morning by Lake Wendouree, a regular meeting spot for the group.

“The funding donated will go towards our in-depth groups program and its resources for women and children in Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh,” Ms Jewson said.

“These groups are for people who have experienced family violence and are on their way to recovery, and working through their experience.

“We know the value of a group; meeting people, being social, talking about experiences, and how important that is.

“I also want to encourage the cycling! I’m a cyclist, since about 10 years of age… and when I retire in four weeks, I’m doing some more cycling. It’s such a good form of healthy exercise.”

Ballarat Scenic Cyclists’ 30th Birthday Reunion event will be held on Monday 17 March at Windmill Drive, Lake Wendouree and all past and present members and their partners are invited.

A traditional Monday ride will roll from 11am, with a barbecue lunch planned at the rotunda from 12pm.

Meat and veggie burgers will be supplied but attendees should bring their own chair.

A display of historic group photos will be put together for the day.
