Designs unveiled for substation fence
THREE potential fence designs for the new Ballarat East Zone Substation have been revealed by Powercor and residents can vote for the one they prefer.
The options were created from community feedback and include an open-ended design with a mix of perforated and plain panels, a design featuring a layered effect with a solid-colour back panel and a perforated front panel, or a multi-panel design with all perforated panels.
“We are pleased with the final three fencing designs that have been shaped by the local community,” said project manager Ben Hatfield.
“Our architects have incorporated their feedback into the final options, and we are now asking residents to vote on their favourite one.
“It might be one of these designs that’s selected, or it could be a combination of parts of all three.”
Ten ideas for the $200,000 community legacy fund have also been announced such as walking tracks, historic markers, wetlands restoration and sporting projects, and residents can choose their favourites.
The substation is due to be completed by summer of 2025 to 2026 despite pushback by some neighbouring community members and the City of Ballarat.
