BANNOCKBURN-based dessert chef Donna Boh is heading to the north of Golden Plains Shire to share her skills and get to know the community at an event at Haddon Community Centre.

Boh is the face behind Donna’s Desserts, a sweet treat catering small business.

“Since I was a kid, I always baking in the kitchen with my mum making an absolute mess, and now my three-year-old does the same thing,” she said.

Boh decided to bring her passion to life in 2015, starting Donna’s Desserts.

After being unable to get supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic, she recently relaunched her business with a focus on catering.

“It’s completely different now, I’m working around my family and I’m only in the kitchen one day a week,” she said.

Tickets to the meet the chef event cost $25 and will include six bite sized desserts, a larger sized sticky date pudding, a take home DIY chocolate self-saucing pudding, as well as games and prizes.

“It is a way to meet people and get them tasting my desserts with a showcase of my best products,” said Boh.

“It’s very casual, very laid back, and very much just to get out into the community, meet people and show them what I can do.

“Attendees can also ask any questions if they want any tips.”

Something that is important to Boh is ensuring the community know the person behind her business.

“I personally like knowing the face behind a business because you can see all these beautiful products and not know who actually make them,” she said.

“I like to know the story of small business owners, and I’ve kind of gone with that myself.”

The event will be held on Friday 25 August from 10.30am until 12pm. Bookings must be made by Friday 18 August by emailing [email protected].
