EXPANDING junior football netball club, the Woady Warriors, are once again set to welcome new families to their Smythesdale home ground for a come-and-try day this month.

Children of all footy and netball skill levels up to the under-13 age group are invited to take part, give the sports a go, meet new people, and get a taste of the club culture.

Junior netball coordinator Brodie Doolan said attendees can expect to feel a strong sense of community spirit.

“We encourage all the kids in the local community existing and new to come out for a fun day for some events,” he said.

“We’re in a really good position heading into 2023. We only just started the netball side last year and we’re pushing for two under 11 sides.

“The football is stepping up as well, to under 13, so it’s really growing. The bridge between Smythesdale and Haddon is building too.”

Families, new and old, are also encouraged to meet members of the coaching team and committee, and to stay for a barbecue lunch.

The club entered their first under-nine Net Set GO netball team into the Ballarat Junior Football Netball League last year, and Mr Doolan said committee members are keen to welcome 13 and under, 11 and under and more nine and under players to the club for 2023.

The Woady Warriors’ aims to gather players from areas in the north of Golden Plains Shire as well as Delacombe, and Ballarat’s west.

The come-and-try day will be held on Sunday, 27 November from 10am to 12pm at Smythesdale Recreation Reserve.
