A DOUBLE horror thriller film night is coming to Ballarat as part of a Terribly Good Cinema pop-up.

The celebration of all things frightening on film is collaborating with Ballarat Frolic Festival to present the night of horror called Queers for Fears.

“I am thrilled to be working alongside Ballarat Frolic Festival to present Ballarat’s first night of queer horror cinema,” said Terribly Good Cinema founder Julia Mann.

“I had such a blast delving into the genre and am really pleased with the final selection.

“They are two genuinely disturbing and interesting queer horror films where the sexuality of the characters is neither the source of horror nor central to the plot.”

The first film of the evening is Hypochondriac and directed and written by Addison Heimann.

It explores childhood trauma and how it effects Will, a young queer potter whose bipolar mother comes back into his life after a long period of absence.

The second film set to screen is What Keeps You Alive, directed by Colin Minihan it will begin at 9.10pm.

It set in an isolated cabin, follows newlyweds Jules and Jackie who must battle to survive each other.

Terribly Good Cinema was created to celebrate horror movies people love to watch time after time, as well as those which may not be well known.

The organisation aims host screening events throughout the year, and seeks to fit the feel of the event and its location.

“It’s such a joy to be welcomed by Ballarat Frolic Festival to present in this year’s Frolic Dark Rainbow,” Ms Mann said.

“It’s a truly bold, dark and unique experience that we don’t normally see in Ballarat, which is exactly what Terribly Good Cinema aims to be.

The screening will take place on Friday 23 July from 7pm at Federation University’s SMB Campus.
