AN EXCEPTIONAL milestone has been reached by a set of Ballarat twins, celebrating their ninetieth birthday late last month.

Glenda and Nola Stephens arrived at their birthday function in a 1928 Pontiac six tourer to celebrate with their friends and family.

Fondly known as the ‘twinnies’ the pair were born at home at Mount Pleasant.

Nola’s son Lyndsay Halson said the pair’s birth was a huge surprise. Nola was first born and then doctor unexpectedly announced “there’s another baby in there.”

Mr Halson said this revelation was a huge joy for the family.

After the twins’ father passed away in 1937, their mother Connie raised the duo and their two other sisters Marie and Valda.

The pair went to Mount Pleasant State School and have lived in Ballarat their whole lives.
