Drive-in makes a come back
JUST forty minutes from Ballarat, the Greendale Drive-In is set to return Friday, 26 March with fun in store for the whole family.
Greendale resident Kristin Sargent said she decided to organise the event with another local mum, Sarah Duncanson, as a way of connecting with the community.
“Since the trial run of the drive-in in November last year we have reignited the social club in Greendale and now head that up also,” she said.
“I had heard that Greendale used to have lots of events, including drive-ins hosted by the old social club years ago but such events had not happened in around eight years as those families had grown up and moved on.
“Having lived in Greendale for two years I felt as if I wasn’t really finding myself connecting with the community and with soon to be having a family I thought I should do something to change that situation.”
In addition to the main feature film, The War with Grandpa, the drive-in event will also feature an Easter twilight market, local food trucks, musical entertainment and a kid’s activity arena with face painting.
Made possible thanks to the Moorabool Shire and The Greendale Social Club and Assets Committee, Ms Sargent said it has already had a huge positive response from the community.
“It was such a hit we’ve been given a grant by the council to do this one coming up which is great,” she said.
