Enchanting event to keep kids spellbound
KRYAL Castle will be celebrating all things enchanted with an upcoming event this June.
The Festival of Magic will allow visitors to learn about and explore the history of magic and wizardry.
“It’s our second year running it, last year it was called the witches and wizards festival, but we rebranded it as the Festival of Magic,” said Kryal Castle CEO Bart Hamilton.
There will be performances, wand making and spell-casting workshops, potion making classes and food stalls.
Melbourne magician Luke Blaze will also be making an appearance.
“Pretty much anything magical you can think of, we’ve got it there for the long weekend,” said Mr Hamilton.
“Last year we had about 4000 people come and this year we think it will be 5000 of 6000.
“There’s just such a long-lasting love of all things magical throughout the world.”
“There’s something for kids who can come and pretend to be witches and wizards and for those adults who are into the dark magic arts there’s something for them as well.
Mr Hamilton said the return of the Festival of Magic is a reflection of Kryal Castle’s continuing move towards multi-day events with the aim of drawing more tourists to Ballarat.
“I think the multi day events are a success because we do have a lot of people who stay more than one day which helps the region,” said Mr Hamilton.
“Our visitation has doubled since last year and we hope next year it will double again.”
The festival will be on from Saturday, 10 June until Monday, 12 June. Tickets are available at kryalcastle.com.au.
