A REBATE program offered by the City of Ballarat is aiming to encourage residents to switch to energy-efficient electric appliances.

Residents can claim rebates on the purchase of solar panels, home batteries, heating and cooling systems, induction cooktops, hot water heat pumps, draught proofing, home insulation, shading devices, home energy audits and more.

“We all know our energy bills spike when days get colder and darker, and we want to make sure our residents can live comfortably and cost effectively,” mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said.

“By acting now, Ballarat residents can reduce their bills as soon as this coming winter.”

Statistics by Rewiring Australia indicated that the average gas and petrol home costs $5517 to run per year whereas the average electrified home costs only $559 to run per year – an average saving of $4958.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to switch and save, with rebates to help them save now and upgrades that will have them saving well into the future,” Cr Hargreaves said.

Purchases or installations must have occurred after 16 March 2025 and the rebate can be claimed until 16 September 2025 or until the allocation is exhausted.
