PARTIAL to a browse of a second-hand book fair?

This weekend, the two-day Inverleigh Book Bazaar will offer thousands of one and two-dollar books, raising funds to maintain community meeting place, the Inverleigh Public Hall.

Passionate book-lover Tonya Allen is co-facilitating the free event with her mum, Inverleigh Public Hall Committee of Management’s Katrina Robson.

“It would be fantastic to raise $5000, which will go straight back into the community. This year we’ll be able to finish off painting at the hall, which has new tables and signage,” she said.

“It’s our largest community space other than the Inverleigh Football Club, which is currently having major renovations and is without club and social rooms. The hall is a great space of historical significance.

“Our public hall has a playgroup, really successful Shire youth group, the historical society meet there, and in pre-COVID times, people would hire it for weddings and functions.”

For those missing Clunes Booktown’s fair this year, Ms Allen said a weekend drive to Inverleigh will fill the void.

“Our fiction authors are ordered alphabetically, and we have popular authors boxed up ready for people who’d like a full set.

“We’ve been inundated with people dropping off books, and we’ve gone and collected car-loads of donations. It will take us a week to set it all up,” she said.

“We’ve got people coming to the Bazaar from interstate, loading up their caravan. The success has been outrageous. Everyone loves books.”

The Inverleigh Book Bazaar will be held this Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 May at the Inverleigh Public Hall from 9am to 4pm both days. Visit facebook.com/inverleighbookbazaar.
