Expo about helping you do you, only better
TRAUMA practitioner Robyn Cameron is coming to Ballarat as part of the Body Soul Holistic Expo this weekend.
The expo aims to help the community find practical ways for people live a fulfilling life, uncover the source of any distress, and find balance.
Ms Cameron, who runs Golden Keys Therapy, focuses on alternative ways of healing when traditional therapies may not have addressed the source of the problem.
“I’ve got a couple of beanbags where people can come have a sit and ask me questions about what exactly I do,” she said.
“We won’t discuss any trauma because that needs to be private and safe, but people can ask how I go about what I do and get to know me as a person.”
Ms Cameron decided to study the alternative form of treatment after having her own experiences with the health system.
“I have lived experience and I was sent to a few professionals but found that they had letters behind their name, but they weren’t heart centred,” she said.
“They offered me a service, but it appeared they hadn’t done any of their own work and had specific rules about what a patient is supposed to do.”
The focus of Ms Cameron’s sessions involve being seeking to guide people to help people through their trauma.
“I don’t like the words therapist or councillor as it makes them seem superior,” she said.
“I am a guide to help people find out what is the source of their stress and often it will be to do with childhood trauma although not always.”
Ms Cameron said she hopes her work reduces the wait time people experience to receive help.
“I hear all the time I have to wait nine months to see someone, and I am here ripe and ready offering something,” she said.
The Body Soul Holistic Expo is set for Sunday 9 July at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre. Tickets can be purchased at bodyandsoulmarket.com.
