EYE the next gen’s artistic talent

WITH posters, paintings, pottery and more, Federation University Arts Academy’s annual end-of-year exhibition is viewable online.

Displayed via Kunstmatrix, a virtual gallery site, EYE presents the work of those graduating from bachelor of visual arts, bachelor of fine arts, bachelor of communication design, creative arts (honours) and advanced diploma of graphic design.

The show features pieces by Molly Berry, Jackson Bertram, Ann Betts, Anthea Bidwell, Christine Bourchier, Jessica Chaplin, Kathryn Drum, Vienna Drysdale Bischard, Daniel Cullinan, Lauren Espie, Miles Foley, Tameka Hague, Tyra Howard, Caleb Jordan, Clayton Keefe, Angeline Koot, Georgia Leonard, Lauren Matthews, Tess McLoughlan, Tayla Ridgeway, Poppy Schembri, Sarah Taylor, Brittany Tucker, Grace Ware and Ella Young.

When it comes to arts innovation and education in the region, the institution’s vice-chancellor, Professor Duncan Bentley said Federation University and its students are “right at the heart of it.”

Arts Academy director, Associate Professor Rick Chew launched EYE via Zoom last Wednesday, 16 December.

Visit artspaces.kunstmatrix.com/en/exhibition/1953139/2020-virtual to walk through the free animated gallery and its separate spaces, where images of each artwork are spaced out on crisp white virtual walls.

The audience can hover their cursor over each artwork for information, or click on them to take a closer look. Some of the pieces are even finished with their own digital frames.

The exhibition will physically be on show in the Post Office Gallery in March of 2021.
