Fair to help jobseekers find work
NEXT week’s big Ballarat Jobs Fair is set to connect entry-level and experienced workers to vacant employment opportunities.
The expo inside the Ballarat Showgrounds pavilion will be held from 10am to 2.30pm on Thursday, 28 April, and exhibiting employers will all be on site with jobs they are seeking to fill across the region.
Ballarat employment facilitator Margi Cousins said attendees young and old can speak with industry professionals about available jobs, training, and career pathways close to home.
“Ballarat is just thriving at the moment. We’re in such a great positive space with growth and business opportunities, and employers are so busy, but they just need more staff,” she said.
“We’ll have more than 30 exhibitors offering entry-level through to professional jobs, and critical industries including hospitality, tourism, the care sector, and construction will be targeted.
“At a recent jobs fair in another city, more than 500 positions were filled. We have more than 1000 jobs already available on the board for the day.”
Workshops and day-in-the-life sessions will also be run on the day, and some stalls will offer advice regarding applying for work, resume writing, interviews, and how to approach searching for available positions.
Local employment support services will be available with resources to boost jobseekers’ confidence.
