Fashion show takes to Hepburn catwalk
FOLLOWING a local runway event held earlier this year, clothing collections from the Ballarat-based fashion label Koshka Art Fuelled Fashion will soon be on show at Hepburn’s Radius Art Gallery.
The upcoming fashion parade and dance party will showcase the label’s recent Wacky Trackies, and Fashion Canvas shows, as well as items from past series.
Koshka director Kat Pengelly said the event will expand on the label’s previous parade held at Mok Bar in July.
“The Mok Bar space didn’t really lend itself to a retail space so we’re able to expand on that at Radius with a Koshka boutique on the night,” she said.
“I did over 50 outfits at the last one and this time I’m refining this one with new clothes to go in it. The clothes that don’t make it on the runway will be for sale in the Koshka boutique.
“I’ll be making ready-to-wear clothes people are likely to wear off the rack. I’m making jeans, which I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
In developing new jeans, Pengelly has been collaborating with her mentor Claire Schreenan from Clasch Design in creating a new pattern, as well as reinterpreting her own past ideas.
Live music will be performed by electronic duo Square Wave Bounce while Cosmik Frequencies, Clay Ravin, Ezc, and Dunkbot will serve as DJs.
The works of shoe designer Preston Zly are set to feature in every outfit in the show, which Pengelly said is augmenting the experience even further.
“Their shoes are represented in the NGV and considered artworks,” she said.
“Presenting a fashion parade, it’s fantastic to have a head-to-toe look where the shoes really finish it off.”
The Koshka fashion parade will take place on Saturday 14 October from 8pm.
Tickets range from $25 for the dance party only, to $50 for VIP seating during the main show, and can be booked at bit.ly/3RDhl39.
