Feedback wanted on park plan
THERE are plans to redevelop Prince of Wales Park.
The City of Ballarat’s Draft Prince of Wales Park Master Plan is open for feedback following its endorsement at last month’s ordinary council meeting.
The plan aims to ensure the park has suitable and equitable infrastructure.
Prince of Wales Park, which is located off Gillies Street, is the home of the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, hockey, tennis, baseball, archery, cricket, and croquet facilities, and a parkrun club.
The Master Plan was created following research, benchmarking, and consultation, and aligns with the Draft Recreation Infrastructure Plan 2024-2039.
Top priorities include a new hockey pitch, relocating the Wendouree Archery Club to Ring Road Reserve, renewing tennis court lighting and surfacing, and increasing on site carparking.
“We are excited about what the future holds at Prince of Wales Park, but it is vital we work closely with the existing users to ensure no sport gets left behind,” said City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson.
“We have listened closely to the user groups and feel the master plan will not only improve the venue as a whole, but also provide something for each individual sport.
“I encourage the community to look at the master plan and provide us with feedback.”
Residents can make feedback on the MySay page until Sunday 21 July.
The final plan is expected to be adopted in August.
