Flag flown for Legacy funding

September 7, 2023 BY

MEMBERS of Ballarat Legacy gathered at Queen Victoria Square in front of Town Hall on Thursday morning last week for a flag raising to signal the launch of the group’s annual fundraising appeal.

Starting the following day, the initiative is set to conclude tomorrow, with all funds going towards Legacy’s goal of supporting families of servicepeople in Ballarat.

With about 30 people at the flag raising, Ballarat Legacy members are soon set to mark another occasion when the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay comes to town on Tuesday 19 September.

Having started in France earlier this year, Ballarat’s 13.5-kilometre part of the torch-bearing will begin at the 8th/7th Ranger Barracks before concluding at Town Hall.

Ballarat Legacy Club is made up of 84 members who support 416 dependents through community campaigning and fundraising.

The group’s president John Morris was one of the people who spoke during the ceremony.
