BALLARAT is set to host the first Starrcast pro wrestling event to be held outside of the United States.

The event is set for Apil and Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, made the announcement last week with the event set to attracts fans from around the world.

It is being funded by the State Government’s regional events fund.

“We’re proud to support Starrcast Downunder, not just for the boost it will deliver to the region’s tourism sector, but because it joins the packed calendar of events bringing Ballarat to life for everybody to enjoy,” he said.

The event will take place from April 11 to 14 and include signings, shows, and interactive panels to be held at the Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange.

There will also be wrestling events at Selkirk Stadium.

WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart and six-time WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James will headline the four days of action as well as about 10 more US and international pro-wrestling legends and 30 other Australians.

Live wrestling events will include an international card, an Australian showcase, and Empower which is an all-female wrestling tour created by James.

They will be streamed live internationally from Selkirk Stadium.

“I cannot express how excited I am to return to Australia for the first time in six years,” said James.

“There couldn’t be a more perfect time, place, and opportunity to host a second Empower event with a whole new feel than Australia and the City of Ballarat.

“I poured my heart and soul into the first one and wasn’t sure it would happen again.”
