Funding backs Raven Collective

RAVEN Collective will receive $20,000 to support the delivery of their programs, following the Ballarat Foundation’s ‘pick our program’ evening.

The event is an opportunity for members to gather and support initiatives which help gender equality in the region.

“We know that gender inequity exists across Australia and unfortunately Ballarat is not an outlier in this respect,” said Ballarat Foundation CEO Andrew Eales.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the Ballarat community to financially back this fund and by the many businesses and groups who have pledged their support.”

The Ballarat Women’s Fund has raised more than $100,000 in its first year and it distributes grants to female focused projects.

Three programs by Raven Collective, Create-Respect Ballarat and Frida’s Daring Voices were shortlisted for funding.

Raven Collective received the most votes and will receive $20,000 to deliver the program will the other two programs will receive $2500.

“We had three fantastic presentations from local agencies who are doing amazing work in responding to these needs. To recognise these projects through our member event was incredibly powerful,” said Mr Eales.

Raven Collective offers support to women who have experienced domestic violence.

They are supported to acquire practical work and learn skills such as resume writing and interview techniques.
