Game on for sporting comps

SPORT fans rejoice, Ballarat has been announced as the host city for three upcoming events in April.

Throughout the month, the region will see action in the National Canoe Polo, National Hustle 3×3 basketball and the Australian Ultimate Frisbee championships.

City of Ballarat spokesperson Cr Ben Taylor said the events showcase Ballarat’s ability to deliver a diverse range of sports offerings.

“As important as the mainstream sports are to the city, there is so much more that we are capable of hosting and highlighting,” he said.

“It’s so important to show that we are open to a diversity of sporting events in Ballarat.

“Whether it’s flying frisbees in Victoria Park, clashing canoes on Lake Wendouree or the spectacular 3×3 basketball, it’s going to be an incredible few weeks.”

The month is set to kick off with the National Canoe Polo Championships to be held at Lake Wendouree from Friday, 7 to Sunday, 9 April.

The event will be the first time the sport has been held at the lake.

Following that, basketballers are to take to the court at Selkirk Stadium for the National Basketball League’s 3×3 National Hustle Championships on 21 and 22 April.

Then it’ll be an autumn fling with the Australian Ultimate Championships are set for Victoria Park until Tuesday, 25 April.

In its third year in a row at Victoria Park, the Victorian Disc Golf Championship is also set to take place during the Australian Ultimate Frisbee event.

Each event will be free to attend.
