Garden group gets donated tools
THE Friends of Ballarat East Gardens at Barkly Square received a shed’s worth of tools earlier this week.
Donated by Bunnings Ballarat, the company’s activity organiser Louise Elshaug visited the community green space on Monday afternoon, delivering equipment to volunteers including group coordinator Valdi Cham.
“It was great to visit Barkly Square to drop off some gardening supplies like shovels, hand tools, gloves, pruners and more, to help them keep the garden grounds looking their best,” Ms Elshaug said.
“We love being able to support and connect with local community groups and look forward to continuing to support the work Valdi and the team do, providing a place where people can learn and connect over a love of gardening.”
Ms Cham wrote a letter to Bunnings Ballarat requesting equipment that could be stored on site, so the nine volunteers would no longer need to cart their own tools to and from home or risk their things going missing.
“We’re working on the slope garden now near the carpark where we’re going to plant succulents and Portulacas,” she said.
