CALLING all garden admirers and green thumbs, as an outdoor tradition returns to Creswick.

The town’s Garden Lovers Weekend will take place on Saturday, 12 November and Sunday, 13 November after a two-year break.

Organiser, and Business and Tourism Creswick committee chair Margaret Giles said it’s exciting for the town to have the event in bloom again.

“It feels good to put it back on now. We’ve got lovely gardens on display for everyone to enjoy,” she said.

“I think it’s an important event for Creswick. It brings lots of people to the town and it’s an opportunity to meet people who are working here.

“It brings a real sense of community cohesion.”

Eight private gardens will be open for public viewing, and cash raised from the weekend will go towards community projects in Creswick.

An estimated 1500 people attended the last Creswick Garden Lovers Weekend and Ms Giles said it’s an ideal way to show off the town to visitors.

“The event is about economic development, in a sense. You’re bringing people to the area that might not otherwise visit,” she said.

“They might stay a night or two. They might come back for a meal. It keeps things moving here too.

“It’s just a great opportunity to show off some of our gardens and we’ve also got a lot of new businesses here too in the main street that are very strong.”

Tickets can be purchased at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre where a map will be available, or at bit.ly/3eCul83. Entry into each garden is $5. Children enter free.
