LOCAL horticulturalist Crysta Anderson is running weekend classes in Napoleon’s about all things pot plants.

The $20 classes run from 10am until 2pm each Saturday and Sunday and Ms Anderson will be sharing he knowledge on how to successfully grow pot plants and grow in raised garden beds.

She began her business Home Garden Consult around 18 months ago and created videos explaining gardening tips which led to her discovering a gap in the market.

“The biggest thing I noticed with clients was that anything to do with pot plants they just didn’t understand that it’s a whole different world,” said Ms Anderson.

“So I decided to run classes to teach people about how plants live in a pot.”

Her first class took place around Mother’s Day and it proved a success, with attendees eager to learn her tips and tricks.

“The feedback came back really positive,” said Ms Anderson.

“I’d explained to everyone in the class this was my first time delivering this sort of unit and they said I was fantastic and the information was far more informative than they thought they were going to get.”

“I thought that sitting on the edge of your seat was just a saying, but I literally had people on the edge of their seat, eyes on me.”

Ms Anderson said she hopes her classes can provide people with the confidence they need to grow their own garden, even if they are a renter or only have the space to grow in pots.

“My motive is to give people confidence because it’s the biggest thing I find people don’t have in the garden,” she said.

“Once you’re confident in something you’re more likely to succeed.”

This is only the beginning for Ms Anderson who said she soon hopes to expand into a composting class to continue to teach the community with knowledge about gardening.
