Giving back some colour
HAYMES Paint Shop’s Helping Hand Project is now open for submissions.
The campaign aims to give three businesses, community groups, or charities the paint and equipment they need to revamp their buildings.
Ballarat Haymes Paint Shop operator Paul Sostheim said this initiative is a great way for the Ballarat born company to give back to those who need it most.
“We’re launching the Ballarat Haymes Shop Helping Hands initiative to help out the community after a really tough year,” he said.
“We’re very close to everyone in our community and this is about trying to, as a store, be there for our local community and community groups.”
With applications for the project currently open, three community organisations or businesses in Ballarat will win a supply of paint related products intended to freshen up their building.
In addition to winning interior and exterior paints, surface coatings and timber finishes, one out of the three recipients will also win volunteer tradesmen to help give their premises a new look.
“The major prize which up to $7800 worth of paint as well as getting someone from within our community to do it for them and get the job done,” Mr Sostheim said.
“The runner ups still get $1200 worth of paint supplies so that they can freshen up their community group or business.
“Being from Ballarat and being a Ballarat based company, we do feel very close to the community here and it’s great to be able to give back.”
Rather than just picking winners, those who get the Helping Hand will be decided by votes from people across the city.
“The actual winner will be selected by the community, as voted by the community, which is really good because it gets the community together to help one another,” Mr Sostheim said.
Applications are open until 26 February visit haymespaintshop.com.au/helpinghand for more info.
