President of the Carols organising committee Matt Hustwaite welcomed the new hosts.

“Glenn and Jules are consummate professionals and having them on board to host our event adds a layer of class and professionalism to Carols,” he said.

“Whether it be courtesy of our talented cast, the fun of the carnival or the spectacle of the fireworks, this year’s Carols is sure to be fun for the whole family.”

Ridge is a familiar face to Ballarat, having hosted the Logie winning Kids Only as well as Six’s Super Saturday Show on BTV6 in the 1980s.

He also hosted Melbourne’s Carols by Candlelight in 1999 and had a 10-year stint at the helm of Sale of the Century.

“It was great to be invited to come back to my old stomping grounds in Ballarat, especially with a number of former BTV6 people working on the Carols,” Ridge said.

“Looking at the line-up you can tell it’s going to be a great night of entertainment, and I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with Ballarat.”

Ridge and Zass have move into Ballarat Carols by Candlelight hosting duties after the previously announced front man, Daryl Somers, stepped away from the role.

“I regret I will be unable to be with you for this year’s Carols due to personal circumstances that are beyond my control,” Somers said in a joint statement released with organisers.
