PUTTING a child into care or kinder for the first time is an anxious process.

Goodstart Mount Clear knows this and centre director Deanna Ward and her carefully selected team of educators acknowledge and validate these feelings through open communication, and by building authentic relationships with families.

Goodstart Mount Clear has been on an impressive transformation journey these last six months, led by Deanna as the new director.

With three separate playgrounds, they have the space to extend learning and development, especially messy and sensory play.

“It’s amazing to see the learning that happens every day,” Deanna said.

Their team’s philosophy is clear, seeking and supporting respectful, authentic partnerships with people, places, and things.

They encourage children to be custodians of their lands, by protecting their environment and nature and cleaning up after themselves to promote an engaging and inviting place to learn.

They build trusting relationships with each other and seek the community’s input. They teach children they have agency and to listen to one another.

“This applies to the team, too,” Deanna said. “We collaborate with children and value their opinions.

“We’ve included our children’s ideas throughout our centre, from suggested experiences to menu items.”

The best is yet to come

Positive outcomes for children, their families and staff are a priority at Goodstart Mount Clear.

Deanna is excited about the future of the centre.

“We love what we do and we don’t accept anyone on our team who’s not as devoted as we are,” she said.

“Children deserve nothing less than having 100 per cent of our focus, commitment and passion.

“We’re super proud of the changes we have made in our centre. We’re going to keep providing positive outcomes for children, their families and our team.”
