Grab a rug: Picnic in the Park is back
PICNIC in the Park will be back for its third year next Friday near the inclusive play space in Victoria Park.
The free event will run from 11.30am until 3.30pm and offers food vendors, market stalls, children’s activities and entertainment.
There will be fun for the whole family with mini golf, face painting, lawn games and a bean bag lounge as well as a DJ and acoustic artists.
“I just think it’s a bit like Summer Sundays where people love the opportunity to get out to experience things that the City of Ballarat is putting on,” said City of Ballarat deputy-mayor Cr Peter Eddy.
“They are free activities and a great chance to catch up with family, with friends and be part of the broader community while recognising this is a difficult date for many people.”
Cr Eddy encouraged people to move between this event and the cultural activities at View Point beginning with the survival day ceremony.
“It would be important for us that people coming to Picnic in the Park also consider coming over to View Point for the activities that will be on here during the day,” he said.
“We encourage people to move between both activities so that they do experience and learn.”
Picnic in the Park is an alcohol-free event and barbecues located near the play space cannot be used.
Dogs are welcome to come along if they are on a lead.
