KILDERKIN Distillery will continue to host live music gigs after receiving a grant from the State Government’s 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund.
The venue received an $11,000 grant to put on 20 performances, which comes from the program designed to support the live music industry.
The distillery is known for its Larrikin Gins and Kilderkin Whisky, and its warehouse venue can host up to 60 guests.
With the grant, distillery co-owner Chris Pratt said the venue is looking to expand its live music offering with nationally and locally based artists.
“We have always been strong supporters of musicians and live music events, and now, thanks to the grant, we have the capacity to expand on that in a tangible way,” he said.
“For us it has always been important to hold the appropriate licence for both streaming music and live events as well as ensuring we pay musicians the appropriate rates.”
The program began last month with a performance of Scottish folk songs by Fiona Ross.
“It’s about creating experiences that bring people together and support community,” co-owner Rebecca Mathews said.
“Both the hospitality and music industry have suffered terribly over the last few years.
“With this grant, we can make an impact in the right direction.”
