THE Probus Club of Begonia City has purchased a new computer for the organisation after receiving a grant from the Community Bank Buninyong.

The computer previously used by the organisation was old, heavy and slow making is difficult for club members to use and eventually it stopped working.

“Our club used to have a computer which was used for secretarial duties,” Murray Stevens, project officer at the club, said.

“We also used it especially for guest speakers to they can present their topic.

“When it died totally, that’s when we realised how much we needed it.”

As some club members wear hearing aids or glasses,

Mr Stevens said having a computer for presentations was important.

“We try and make sure we have interesting programs and guest speakers and this was one way which added to that instead of just someone standing up and talking.

“A lot of us have hearing aids and a lot of us have glasses so if you can hear and see what they’re talking about you have a better chance of remembering it or being inspired.”

Mr Murray thanked the Community Bank Buninyong for their support.

“We’ve invited the manager Randall from the bank to a meeting so we can publicly thank him and he has also offered to talk to us about bank scams,” he said.

“So we are sort of getting two for the price of one.”
